Creative Aging: Dance for Life

ADMISSION: Free in conjunction with Free First Tuesdays. Registration recommended; space is limited.

Discover the transformative power of dance in this intergenerational movement class taught by Marika Brussel. This class is appropriate for everyone who enjoys movement, and is specifically designed to be accessible for individuals who use wheelchairs, as well as those with balance concerns or Parkinson’s. The begins seated with warm ups for the body and mind. As the class progresses, participants can stand or stay seated as the group continues to hone balance, grace, and confidence.

ABOUT CREATIVE AGING

About Creative Aging at The CJM is a series of enrichment activities for older adults that supports health, wellness, and quality of life. Offerings include dance, storytelling, films, classes, tours, and public programs. Programs occur every Free First Tuesday, as well as at additional times.

The CJM is committed to creating an accessible and inclusive environment for all. Sign language interpretation (ASL) can be scheduled for all programs with at least two weeks notice by emailing access@thecjm.org or by calling 415.655.7856 (relay calls welcome). Marika Brussel has been teaching elders in the Bay Area for the past eight years. Her work incorporates her training from the Mark Morris Dance for Parkinson’s Disease program.
