Guided Journaling

Tuesdays, Jan 7–28, 2020 │ 12–1pm

ADMISSION: Free with RSVP to info@thecjm.org. Space is limited and registration is recommended.

Give yourself time to reflect and start off your New Year with lunchtime sessions of guided journaling. Each one-hour session of free writing will be interspersed with prompts.

This program is presented in conjunction with Daria Martin’s immersive installation Tonight the World, which is inspired by her grandmother’s dream journal entries, amounting to over 20,000 pages chronicled for the purposes of Jungian psychoanalysis.

Space is limited and free RSVP is recommended.

about the exhibition

Co-commissioned by The CJM, San Francisco-born artist Daria Martin’s immersive installation Tonight the World draws upon dream diaries kept by her grandmother over a 35-year period. Through atmospheric film and gaming technology, Martin stages a series of intimate encounters that envelop viewers in an exploration of the curious and traumatic history of her grandmother, who fled the imminent Nazi occupation of Czechoslovakia.

ACCESSIBILITY

The CJM strives for a welcoming environment for all of our visitors. In addition to ample space for wheelchairs and a friendly environment for service animals, sign language interpretation (ASL) can be scheduled for all programs with at least two weeks notice.

FM assistive listening devices (ALDs) for sound enhancement are available for all talks and tours. Please note that we would like to maintain this as a scent-free environment, and encourage visitors to refrain from using scented products out of respect for visitors with allergies or chemical sensitivities. For additional accommodation requests, please contact The CJM’s Access and Community Engagement Manager at access@thecjm.org or 415.655.7856.
